About Me

My photo
I love to read. Reading is an escape from the real world. Some books are harsh, like the real world. But, I know that it isn't real. My favorite place to read is on my bed with some candy. Obviously, the picture is not me.

Review: Graceling by Kristin Cashore

Finally finished it. I had a lot of problems with this book.

Pros: 1. Kristin Cashore had this way with writing that made me want to read the book all night. Its the way she wrote it, not the content though. 2. Liked the characters. Especially Po and Bitterblue.

Cons: 1. Hated the twists. They were not creative what so ever. 2. The author just threw bits and pieces of stuff in there. 3. It felt like they were going in circles the whole book. 4. Katsa, oh God how I hated Katsa. 5. Kristin Cashore dragged out the story more than it should have. 6. Leck, Po's eyes(at the end), Po giving Katsa his ring, just twists like that were boring. I think I already said that.

Overall, it was an okay book. Had a good plotline and everything. I for one, just wasn't a fan of it. I don't think I'll read Fire, but I might read Bitterblue.

Writing Wednesday(a day late, sorry!)

Today, on Thursday, is Writing Wednesday! Sorry this is a day late, I can't really tell what the days are when I'm not in school. Speaking of school, I'm going back to school in 11 days, so I won't be reading or vlogging or blogging as much as I want. OH, btw, I'm trying to reach 100 subscribers by October, so.....Help me?

Title: Rewritten by Alex

http://www.goodreads.com/story/show/277048-rewritten

What if all of your favorite characters from your favorite fairy tales, had children? Four best friends. All cursed. A destiny forced upon generations, until one of them gets it right. Ella, Whit, Belly, and Rory are the bestest friends you can get. They've known eachother since they were born. All of them know what's coming when they are sixteen. The curse. Living out a fairytale's destiny, until someone gets it right. All of their ancestor's had to do it, now they will. None of them are willing to admit it, but they are secretly excited. Who doesn't want to live a princess's tale? But, some of those tales, don't have a happy ending. That is why the descendants of Cinderella, Belle, Snow White, and Aurora are supposed to rewrite that destiny. So far, no one has done it. These four besties are determined to do it though.

I hope you guys read it and like it!

Rating: 5/5 stars

DO NOT READ THIS REVIEW IF YOU HAVE NOT READ NIGHTSHADE OR WOLFSBANE. IT WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS FOR THE FIRST ONE, AND MINOR SPOILERS FOR WOLFSBANE.

I loved this sooooooooo much. I am totally team Searcher. We were introduced to a whole new world in here, and I loved it! There was very little that I didn't like.

Pros:1. A whole new world is introduced, a very cool one at that. 2.I loved all of the new characters. Connor was a smart a**. Adne was tough, but still a girl on the inside. Ethan scarred from losing his brother, and almost killing someone elses brother (whom I will not say) while also having a teeny crush on a girl. 3. This was action packed from page one. 4. It had some romance in it. Always gotta love romance. 5. THE TWIST AT THE END! OMG, I was not expecting that.

Cons: 1.Shay was a jerk. Ren was kind of a jerk too, but then I kept on reading, and I understood. Shay had no excuse though. 2. Andrea Cremer kept on killing people! And she either made them depressed or took away their reason to live. I understand that this is a war, but couldn't she kill off my least favorite characters?

Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl

Lena Duchannes is unlike anyone the small Southern town of Gatlin has ever seen, and she's struggling to conceal her power, and a curse that has haunted her family for generations. But even within the overgrown gardens, murky swamps and crumbling graveyards of the forgotten South, a secret cannot stay hidden forever.
Ethan Wate, who has been counting the months until he can escape from Gatlin, is haunted by dreams of a beautiful girl he has never met. When Lena moves into the town's oldest and most infamous plantation, Ethan is inexplicably drawn to her and determined to uncover the connection between them.
In a town with no surprises, one secret could change everything.
Rating: 4/5 stars

Characters: 4. Lena was annoying at parts. "Don't love me! I'm going Dark!" That was annoying to hear over and over and over in the book. Amma was annoying as heck.
Plot: 4. I've never really read a book about witches. This was a first. But, the whole Light and Dark thing, was a little over the top. I still liked it though.
Writing: 4. Some parts were slow.
Addictiveness: 3 nothing really made me not want to put it down.
Romance: 4. Over the top, but still cute.

Overall, this book gets a FOUR.

Dr.A discusses: Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins

I promised you a disscussion, and you'll get one.

Setting: The setting is in Paris, France. The city of love, of lights, of AWESOMENESS! I could tell just from the setting that it was going to be good. It was mostly set in the city of Paris, in a school for Americans. There were some scenes when they were either in America or in the city. Overall, I loved the setting.
Characters: I loved all of them. I mostly loved St. Clair. Rashmi, Josh, Mer, Anna, little Seany :D. They all have a speacil place in my heart. Not Bridgette and Toph, but you have to read the book to get why I said that.
The twists: The twists definitly kept me going all through the night. I can't say the twists, it will spoil you. But, I will just say this: Poor St. Clair :'(
The Friendships: I adored every single friendship in here. St. Clair and Josh, they had a typical bromance. Rashmi and Mer, two hurt girls that bond after losing there best friend. Anna and St. Clair.....need I say more?
The Romance <3: I loved the romance. St. Clair and Ellie, I thought they were adorable, up until page 100 or so. Josh and Rashmi, loved them. They were hilarious together. St. Clair and Anna........don't want to spoil it for you!!!

Well, that's it for Dr.A discusses #1! I hope you guys enjoy and stay tuned for next week!

Review:Anna and the French Kiss

Anna is looking foward to her senior year in Atlanta, where she has a great job, a loyal best friend, and a crush on the verge of becoming more. Which is why she is less than thrilled about being shipped off to boarding school in Paris - until she meets Etienne St. Clair: perfect, Parisian (and English and American, which makes for a swoon-worthy accent), and utterly irresistible. The only problem is that he's taken, and Anna might be, too, if anything comes of her almost-relationship back home.

As winter melts into spring, will a year of romantic near - misses end with the French kiss Anna - and readers - have long awaited?

Rating: 5/5 stars
Where has this book been all my life??? This was fantastic in every single way. I loved every bit about it. There really was nothing to hate. The characters, the love, the pain, the humor. I felt it ALL in this book. It was hilarious and deep at the same time. Anna, was the awesomenest character ever. Rashmi, sarcastic and hurt her best friend left her. Josh, sad that his friends are leaving. Mer, loving one of her closest friends. St. Clair, oh dear God, St. Clair. I can't put it into words how much I love him. Why can't all guys be like him, AND BE AMERICAN. He's American, British, French, all of the good countries mixed into one. I WILL KILL THOSE WHO MADE FUN OF HIM IN THE EIGHTH GRADE. Of course I remember that part. I remember EVERYTHING. This is one of the best books ever written and I can't wait for more of Stephanie Perkins writing.

The Awakening

This is The Awakening. I'm currently working on the eighth chapter right now. It's going along slow because I don't know, at the moment, where I want this story to go. I'm writing these stories for fun though. I don't want to publish anything, not anytime soon. At least until I finish school. Here's the summary for The Awakening.

Alex's life changed the second she started having those dreams. She knows she should have told someone, but who was going to believe her? One night at a club, she meets gorgeous Camren. He was a mystery the moment she meet him. He presses on the fact that he just wants to be friends. Alex feels anything but friendly feelings toward him. While she may be falling in love with Camren, she receives death threats and other things that torment her. Mysterious people in her mirrors, strange phone calls, a man taking her to Hell in her dreams. They get worse with every threat. They all come from one man. Can she figure out who wants to kill her before he does it? Can she figure out the mystery of Camren?

I know it sounds stupid. Really, there is very little romance. At least I hope I can put little romance in there. If your wondering why the main character has my name, I'll give you a hint.

Hint #1: The meaning of the name Alexandra is "protecter of mankind".

The Chosen (Boian Instiute for the Unwanteds #1)

The link is one of the two stories I'm writing. This one is about vampirs. I'll put a description down below.

16 year old Lorin Nelson was an abused child. Her mother was murdered when she was two, and her father was framed for it.Now, he's on the run.  Her older brother disappeared out of no where. She is left to fend for herself and her younger brother, Nate. Lorin was left on her abusive uncle's estate. She left her uncle's estate to escape the abuse he put her through. She meets this man, Derek. He helps her in ways you wouldn't even imagine. He takes her to this school he works at and Lorin learns more about herself. In the mean time, she has to keep a deadly secret that, not only kill her and Derek, but everyone she has ever loved.

The other one I'm working on is The Awakening. I'll do a seperate blog post on it later today or tomorrow. In the mean time, stay awesome and check out The Chosen.

Currently Reading #1 and a mini Library haul.

Here is what I'm reading. I'm reading two books right now.

Beautiful Creatures  (Caster Chronicles #1) by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl. I'm liking this one so far. I'm only 126 or so pages in, but I'm liking it.

Paper Towns by John Green  I'm not really liking this. It's slow and personally, it's not interesting. I'm thirty or more pages in. I'm hoping I like this more.

The library book haul:
Wings (Wings #1) by Aprilynne Pike
You know you love me (Gossip Girl #2)  by Cecily von Ziegesar
Hourglass (Evernight #3) by Claudia Gray

Review: The Six Rules of Maybe by Deb Caletti

Scarlet spends most of her time worrying about other people. Some are her friends, others are practically strangers, and then there are the ones no else even notices. Trying to fix their lives comes naturally to her. And pushing her own needs to the side is part of the deal. So when her older sister comes home unexpectedly married and pregnant, Scarlet has a new person to worry about. But all of her good intentions are shattered when the unthinkable happens: she falls for her sister’s husband. For the first time in a long time, Scarlet’s not fixing a problem, she’s at the center of one. And ignoring her feelings doesn’t seem to be an option...

Rating: 2/5 stars

I came into this with high expectations. Those expectations, sadly, were not met. What else was I supposed to think when the summary was so good? When the author was highly appraised? The book did not get interesting until 150 pages in. Maybe I expected too much. I'm sorry for those who liked it.

Scarlet, even though she said she cared for others, I found that she cared for herself more than the other people. She was a complete beeyotch at the end. And Juliet, she couldn't pull herself together, even though she was going to have a baby! Everyone, except Hayden and her Mom, cared about themselves and didn't give a sh*t for the other people in the book. Juliet was married, and going to have a baby, and she was running after Buddy. She didn't care that it might be hard for her baby if she wasn't with the dad. She didn't care about the baby.

The ending was AWFUL. Scarlet KISSED THE GUY HER "BEST FRIEND" LOVED. I know Nicole said she didn't care, but HELLO!!! When a girl says she doesn't care, SHE CARES!! Scarlet took things WAY out of proportion. She was a total bi*** at the end. And she kissed her sister's HUSBAND! Oh good lord.

I can go on and on about how much I didn't like it. It was okay, but I didn't HATE it. It actually was kinda good at some parts. I am sorry that I didn't like it for those who did. Deb Caletti is an author that I definitly will not go back to for awhile.
